Overview

Motor Control & Automation

Motors drive most of the load in a typical factory, and the starter and protection around them decide how long they last. Garg Electricals supplies motor control and automation components for MCC builders, OEM panel makers and plant maintenance teams.

We supply DOL, star-delta and automatic starters, power contactors, thermal and electronic overload relays and timers. Our protection range includes phase-failure, phase-sequence and voltage monitoring relays from Minilec and others, which are widely used in the region to protect motors from single-phasing on rural and industrial feeders.

For panel builders we carry push buttons, selector switches, emergency stops, LED indicators, terminal blocks and other panel accessories from BCH, L&T, Siemens, Schneider Electric and C&S Electric.

Send us your motor list with kW ratings and starting method and we will put together the contactor, relay and starter combination for each feeder.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

When should I use a star-delta starter instead of DOL?

Direct-on-line starting draws roughly six to eight times the motor's full-load current. Star-delta starting reduces this inrush to about one third and is commonly used for larger motors where the supply or mechanical load cannot handle full DOL inrush. The right choice depends on the motor rating, the load and the local supply.

Why do I need a phase-failure relay?

A three-phase motor that loses one phase (single-phasing) can overheat and burn out quickly. A phase-failure relay trips the starter when a phase is lost, reversed or out of voltage limits.

How do I select the overload relay range?

Choose a relay whose setting range includes the motor's full-load current (from the nameplate), and set it at that current.
